People : The Thais are a warm, friendly and welcoming people. They are pleased in any foreigner. You will hear much of the "Land of smiles", the phrase used to explain for their country. Only 75 % of the population are actually ethnic Thais. The remaining 25 % are divided between Chinese, Indians, Malays (in the South), many hill-tribes in the North (such as Karen, Meo, Yao, Akha, Mon and more).
Religion
: 90% of the population of Thailand are Buddhist, The remaining 10 % are divided between Muslim in the South, nature spirit worshippers in the North, Christians, and Hindus or Sikhs. Despite being overwhelmingly Buddhist, every morning you will always see Thais wait in the street outside to give alms in the form of food to the monks from the local temple. There are around 30,000 temples (the Thai says " Wat ") in Thailand. Temples (or "Wat") are not just religious centres but also educational, social centres and tourist attractions of Thailand too. Moreover, you can find Thai fine arts in the form of drawings and paintings within the temple walls.
Culture : Thai culture presents in various forms such as temple & palace traditional wooden architecture, literature, drama, dance, music, painting and modern art.
Festivals : Thailand is a land of festivals where people congregate in merriment for various reasons, religious and secular, seasonal and cultural, sporting and historical. There are many holidays celebrated by local people of various regions.
Handicrafts : The Thais are very atristic craftsmen. Indigenous crafts like Thai silk is well-known and recognized throughout the world. The flourishing jewellery became a top exporting product, You can also find other exquisite handicrafts such as Yan Lipao-Basketwork, Silverware, Umbrellas , Khon Masks, etc.
